Meet Our Vendor: Seagrape bath + body
We wish we had room for all the vendors we love. Especially when we love their products so much. We are happy that Seagrape bath + body made the cut! Her products are addicting and we love how she truly practices what she preaches! Let’s find out what she’s been up to.
Who are you and what do you do?
Hello! I’m Maria- the dreamer, formulator and maker behind all the good smelling things at Seagrape bath + body.
I am a queer immigrant kitchen witch with a weakness for tea and good smells. I have a degree in painting and book arts and enjoy ceramics and block printing. I have not been formally trained as an herbalist, though I’ve studied aromatherapy for the last 7 years and have concocted herbal medicine since I was a teen.
Seagrape was born out of love for scent, sensuality and a desire to help people self-care. During these weird times the best thing we can do is live in our joy, be a beacon for ourselves and others by allowing our bodies and spirits to experience ecstasy, pleasure and delight. This business is my joy- every person that comes in to share a personal truth, desire or hardship, every box I lovingly wrap up and ship makes me feel full. Without knowing it or meaning to, this business has cultivated my community, supported me through lots of big changes and provided incredible inspiration and magic for many.
What’s the latest thing you’ve been working on?
The newest addition to the Seagrape line is a 2019 Lunar Calendar, designed in-house and printed by a print co-op in Portland. It was quite an undertaking but turned out so beautiful we’re already planning next years!
Any new exciting news you’d like to share with our readers?
Seagrape has just taken oven an additional, dedicated event space! We’re so excited to offer a larger studio for meet ups, classes and community gatherings just around the corner from our brick and mortar shop.

What do you love most about craft show vending?
One of my favorite things about running this business is connecting with customers and friends that love scent as much as I do. Taking people on an in-person scent journey through our oils and perfumes is my favorite part of vending in person. I love listening to people’s scent and memory associations, and watch their face change as they find a blend that really speaks to them!
What’s something you’ve learned through running your business in the past 12 months?
Seagrape has always been a community driven business, but the last year has proven that our success is directly connected to community support. As we expand and grow this little business the folks that show up to help us run workshops, staff the store and work trade show events make it all possible. Asking for help and building this biz with the help of our community has been crucial in the last year and has allowed us to open a huge event space to continue to foster learning within Portland.
I was looking through my calendar yesterday and it’s crazy to see how little left there is! 2019 will be here in no time! Today visit us on Instagram for your chance to win your own2019 Lunar Calendar!
