Meet Our Vendor: Kind Apparel
We love promoting slow fashion as fast fashion is so bad for our environment and we are all for protecting this beautiful land of ours. We love that this vendor, Kind Apparel, not only makes her own apparel but also makes her own graphics on her fabrics! Let’s learn more…
Who are you and what do you do?
I’m Mallory Ottariano, the founder and creative drive behind Kind Apparel. I run my small apparel company from beautiful Missoula Montana and design every piece as well as the graphics and patterns on my fabrics. You’ll often find me behind the sewing machine as well, creating our products!
What do you love most about craft show vending?
The community of incredible people. The vendorsare such a tightly knit, supportive network and we all experience similar challenges and successes often together!
And our customers are THE BEST. Being at a craft show and experiencing all of the love and excitement emanating from the shoppers is such an incredible high and such a validation that we, as makers, are all on the right track and are bringing joy to others.
How did you get started in your business?
Growing up, my mom sewed a lot and I loved helping her out with projects and later tackling my own. As I grew up, clothing became one of my favorite ways to display my creativity and my personality and I would concoct crazy and colorful outfits. As my lifestyle took my outdoors more and more, I noticed a complete lack of colorful and cute women’s clothing in the outdoor industry. So I created my own! I strive to keep alive the vibrancy and whimsy of my teenage fashion years, through the patterns and designs in my current line.
Is this a full-time business for you?
Whew, it’s like 5!
Who’s your biggest fan?
my customers! I absolutely LOVE seeing women around my hometown rockin’ Kind Apparel and reaching out to tell me how much they love what I do and make. The fact that there is a collection of women out there who have incredible enthusiasm and excitement for my brand rocks my world, every day.
