Meet Our Vendor: Junebug and Darlin
We love kits! We love how it can spark a new idea or a love for creating. We also have no shame in our game for spreading the message of love! Which is why we heart the work by Junebug and Darlin! We are so glad to have her back at our show!
Who are you and what do you do?
Junebug and Darlin specializes in making unique framed cross stitches and modern cross stitch kits. An artistic endeavor by Zoe Frost, her kits provide crafters with the tools to create heirloom quality subversive crafts by providing all of the supplies needed- from first stitch to frame. Each finished piece and kit is designed and assembled by the owner, combining nature, queerness and political justice.
What’s the latest thing you’ve been working on?
I am super excited about my new floral series. It’s the first set of non-political designs I’ve made, but it has also let me branch out into more intermediate designs that will be the perfect addition to an art wall.
How did you get started in your business?
I started cross-stitching two years ago as a quest to find a new business endeavor – and I’ve cross-stitched almost every day since.
What do your customers love most about your product(s)?
The nature of a kit is so much fun for customers to experience. The kits come with all of the supplies, eliminating the need to run to the store every 10 minutes for that one thing you forgot. And when you’re done stitching it up – it makes a framed piece of art. I think people feel really empowered knowing they can craft their own revolution.
What’s the best experience you’ve ever had with one of your customers?
My favorite experience at any craft fair is bringing queerness and politics to the front of a craftivist movement. It always put a huge smile on my face to see my community feel recognized in a space that’s not intentionally created for us/them, but one that they can feel seen in nonetheless.
