Meet Our Vendor: FINEX Cast Iron Cookware
Alright friends, we are all super excited to have Finex join our lineup! If you are crafty, there’s a good possibility you also get into cooking. Having beautiful items to cook with nerds us all out. Let’s learn about this exciting new vendor.
Who are you and what do you do?
We are a small group of Portland based perfectionists crafting heirloom quality cast iron cookware! Our story started with a journey to find healthier cooking alternatives. We quickly discovered that cast iron cookware of now did not measure up to the standards of old and became obsessed with the design, quality and craftsmanship of antique cast iron. We wanted to take cast iron to the next level and bring it back into modern kitchens.
What is your favorite new product for 2018?
Our favorite new product is our 5 Qt Dutch Oven! There are some meals that are best suited for an old-fashioned Dutch Oven. The signature octagonal shape of FINEX really came to life with this piece – creating the unique feature of pour spouts in a Dutch Oven, while still allowing the lid to seal completely. It’s a beautiful and versatile addition to the FINEX family (and to any kitchen).
What do you love most about craft show vending?
Connecting with customers both new and old about their cast iron cooking – what meals they’ve cooked, who they’ve shared those meals with, and memories made in the process. Food brings people together I love that FINEX is a part of that.
What’s your favorite item that you sell?
My favorite item we sell is also the first item we ever sold – our 12” skillet with lid. A skillet is the most classic piece in the kitchen, and with the addition of the cast iron lid it’s my everyday go to for searing, sautéing, braising, and baking. My skillet lives on my stovetop with occasional ventures into the oven or out on the grill.
What’s the best experience you’ve ever had with one of your customers?
We had a customer come visit the FINEX factory for a tour. He watched a skillet be assembled and was insistent on purchasing that exact skillet. We were curious as to why, and he mentioned that his son was born earlier that morning and he wanted a skillet that was ‘born’ on the same day – something he would pass down to his son when he turned 18. This is always my favorite FINEX story because that is exactly what we were trying to create when we started this company.
