Shelly.Etc
Congratulations, Laura! Come to UCU on Saturday or Sunday
and pick out a Shelly.Etc. nightlight to scare your monsters away!
Who are you and what do you do?
Hi! I’m Shelly. I am one of those people that usually doesn’t say no, so I always have a lot going on, but I love that about life, always moving, always busy and always ready to tackle a challenge or sip a short cappuccino with a friend.
My art is photography. I know… everyone takes photos these days on their phones (me included!) But what I like to capture is life as it’s
happening, a sunrise, an abandoned doorway, anything detail oriented, or architecture focused are my favorite still subjects. I always photograph “found” items and never set up a shot. Then I take my best photographs and print them on aluminum! It adds this depth and quality that I love, and also the modern look I want in my home, and hopefully yours too! I also expanded my line to include affordable items such as magnets, nightlights, cards and postcards!

What’s the latest thing you’ve been working on?
I’ve been working on a super top secret project with the University of Washington… more to come on that!
Any new exciting news you’d like to share with our readers?
I just moved to West Seattle!!!! So you will be seeing more photographs of that area this fall and into the next year. Ballard was an amazing place to live for the last seven years (I KNOW RIGHT!) and I had a lot to move, but in that move I have been really simplifying and re-examining my business so I know it will become more streamline and more focused.
Is this a full-time business for you?
This is not my full-time business! I work at an awesome architecture firm called Integrus Architecture. This is where I help design and build public projects such as K-12 schools and civic buildings like police stations, etc. It is really a rewarding career and I love being able to do two things I absolutely love. Design & Photography.
What’s the best experience you’ve ever had with one of your customers?
I really love being able to interact with my customers. Also hearing them talk about how great the piece of art is in their home makes me warm and fuzzy inside. I know I wouldn’t be doing this if it wasn’t for the fans who come and support local or just individual people vs. big corporations. I love the small guy and gal and hope more and more people support the artistic communities.
