Meet our Vendor: Susan Eastman
From California, give a warm welcome to new vendor, Susan Eastman! Her work is beautiful and great for the summertime. Enjoy this little interview we did with her.
Who are you and what do you do?
I’m a tiny, one-woman show with zero employees. With a fine arts background, I began making clothing and scarves about ten years ago. I have more of a love, rather than a business. I grew up with a creative grandmother, began noticing the textile department in art school, and made my first pair of pants from a splattered drop cloth. I start my mornings with coffee and podcasts, doing what I truly want to be doing. I think customers respond to that level of personal involvement and appreciate the effort that goes into making their clothing.
What’s the latest thing you’ve been working on?
I’ve been hand-painting yardage, to make into garments and scarves.
How far will you be traveling to come to UCU?
What do you love most about craft show vending?
I love direct sales. Chatting with my customers over the years has greatly inspired my work. My favorite experience is when a customer stops by, wearing one of my pieces.
Is this a full-time business for you?
