Meet the Vendor: Pendleties
Who are you and what do you do?
Pendleties is the home of modern haberdashery made with fine Pendleton fabrics. We specialize in bowties, pocket squares, wallets, earrings, and other goods. Everything is handmade by me, locally in Seattle. Fabrics are all from Pendleton Woolen Mill in Washougal Washington and my leathers are re-purposed and USA sourced. Currently we have 50 fabric options and 6 leather options. Check us out!
What’s the latest thing you’ve been working on?
Recently I’ve been looking to add regular neckties, lapel pins and cuff links to our collection for 2015.
Any new exciting news you’d like to share with our readers?
Pendleties bowties will be part of a feature in the Seattle Met Bride and Groom Magazine (Winter/Spring edition) to be released in December!
What was your first memory of making something?
My mother was an avid seamstress since she was a teenager. When I was born she would carry me around everywhere she went- including the sewing room. At age three she left me alone at the sewing machine for a few minutes while she checked on dinner upstairs. I had taken it upon myself to put the foot pedal up on the table, put my own fabric on the machine, and start sewing away. From that day forward she has been encouraging and supportive as my hands busily create things.
How far will you be traveling to come to UCU?
I’m local to Seattle, although I grew up in New York.
Is this a full-time business for you?
Pendleties isn’t a full-time business for me, but I’d love for it to be down the road! It’s such a new company, I need to get off my feet first. I have an amazing support system and have had a really good response so far. Wholesale inquiries have already started trickling in, so I see good things ahead!
Where do you see your business in 3 years?
Within 3 years my goal is to be in bridal shops, menswear shops, and boutiques in the PNW.
