Meet the Vendor: Green Grin
Who are you and what do you do?
Hi! My name is Beth, and I love to sew. Most days you can find me stitching away amongst towering piles of colorful recycled sweaters up in my artist’s garret. I use sumptuous soft wool and cashmere to craft cute playthings for kids (and the young at heart!). I also make smart, cozy handwarmers for all ages.
What is your favorite new product for 2016?:
Due to popular demand, I’m finally making hand puppets. What took me so long?! They are so cute and fun and I’m using luxurious cashmere for the bodies, so they are super soft. I can’t wait to see folks play with them.
How far will you be traveling to come to UCU?:
I will be trekking from a sleepy forested dale in the heart of the Coast Range Mountains of NW Oregon to the epicenter of PNW urbanity; a huge cultural journey that I anticipate with glee!
What’s your favorite item that you sell?:
Well, it’s hard to choose a favorite, but I really like my little WeeKinnies and their nests. I was challenging myself to come up with a character that I could make using the tiniest scraps of fabric. The nests turn them in to an interactive toy, plus I get to crochet the nests, which is a nice break from sewing! I’ve recently been making little cashmere sleeping bags for them that are pretty darn sweet.
What do your customers love most about your product(s)?:
People seem to have a lot of fun deciding what to choose; trying on handwarmers, or playing with the toys. My offerings are pretty interactive and touchable.
