Meet the Vendor: Forage Paper Co.
Who are you and what do you do?
My name is Christina Song and I’m the owner and designer at Forage Paper Co., based in Oakland, California. Forage Paper Co. is a stationery and paper goods line inspired by nature and the simple beauty of everyday life. As an illustrator by trade, I’m always sketching out ideas on a daily basis and hand painting new products in my studio.
What’s the latest thing you’ve been working on?
I am focusing on expanding our line of greeting cards and adding more cards to each occasion. Currently, I’m working on holiday cards even though it’s June and hot outside!
Any new exciting news you’d like to share with our readers?
We have only participated in craft shows in California in the past so this is our first out-of-town craft show we’ll be exhibiting at. I am so excited to introduce Forage Paper Co. to Seattle at Urban Craft Uprising.
How far will you be traveling to come to UCU?
According to Google Maps, we will be driving 804 miles from Oakland, which will take us approximately 12 hours.
What do you love most about craft show vending?
Besides our fantastic stockists, we primarily sell online so vending at craft shows has been a great way for us to meet customers, market our products, and enjoy that exciting moment when a customer reacts to a card they really connect with.
How did you get started in your business?
I was a full-time freelance illustrator (now part-time) before Forage Paper Co. came along. On the side, I was selling prints and cards of my illustrations on my website and some retailers started placing orders and requesting for more products! It finally dawned on me to create a stationery line. It was such a natural and fun transition, especially as a stationery lover myself. I kept thinking about the importance of letter writing and how people can make meaningful connections through my cards.
