Meet the Vendor: Bird of Virtue
Who are you and what do you do?
Hey! My name is Linnea + I make wooden jewelry for gals + guys.
What’s the latest thing you’ve been working on?
I’m kind of obsessed with things being reversible these days + all of my newest designs which will be at the summer show are reversible – even earrings! I started playing around with how I could make my pieces differently + I thought, well heck – why aren’t I using the backs of the pieces to give the piece more flexibility of wear.
What was your first memory of making something?
My dad taught me to paint walls when I was about 4 years old – maybe he was looking for cheap labor (hah), but my love for making + doing was sparked then.
What is your favorite new product for 2016?
I’m really excited about all my new designs, but especially smitten with the Svea design. It reminds me of fields of birch trees found in Scandinavia – hence the name “Svea” which quite literally means “Sweden.”
How far will you be traveling to come to UCU?
Up the coast from San Francisco – I guess that’s roughly 1000-miles.
How did you get started in your business?
Its in my blood! My mom is a life-long professional crafter + grew up attending craft fairs, so it seemed only natural to live my life as a full-time artist.
Is this a full-time business for you?
Yes + then some 😉
