Meet the Vendor: Twyla Dill Design
Who are you and what do you do?
I am Twyla of Twyla Dill Design an I make jewelry and accessories, hand crocheted and knit, with details of wood-burned maple and natural brass. Think delicate and lightweight earrings and necklaces that offer pops of color and texture with wood burned elements to ground the pieces. My main accessories are hand knit wool chain scarves, perfect for staying cozy and chic through the fall and winter!
What’s the latest thing you’ve been working on?
Most recently I’ve been working on wood burned stud earrings; I will be debuting four different designs and a special MOON PHASE STUD EARRING SET at this years Holiday Urban Craft Uprising!
What do you love most about craft show vending?
Vending at craft shows is such a treat because I get to interact with my customers face to face. Getting in person feedback and being able to see who is wearing/buying my jewelry takes the business of making to another, more personal level.
How did you get started in your business?
About four years ago I lived in Istanbul, Turkey the home of ‘oya’, Turkish hand crocheted lace. I learned this beautiful art form from the mother of my friend and started to use the technique to design my own work. Skip ahead to the beginning of 2015; I started to incorporate wood elements and brass into my jewelry and launched the official Twyla Dill Design. My designs evolve and grow as I learn but they will always have elements of Turkish hand crocheted lace.
Where do you see your business in 3 years?
In three years I will have a full-time jewelry and accessories business and alongside my regular jewelry I will have select one-of-a-kind pieces that I put more energy into. I will hopefully be growing a good following and wholesale accounts across the US and in other parts of the world. Bringing jewelry that combines unusual materials and plays with fun and elegant designs.
