Who are you and what do you do?
I’m Rebecca and I own and operate The Shrubbery. I like to say I wear all the hats, from the chef hat to the accounting hat.
What’s the latest thing you’ve been working on?
We’re gearing up for summer fruits and getting excited about possible flavor profiles.
What do you love most about craft show vending?
It sounds cliche, but the thing I love most is the people. I make something food related, so I have the opportunity to touch people on a very visceral level. And because shrubs are so great in mixed drinks, people often leave my booth making plans to have people over so they can share this new tasty thing. I find that very gratifying.
How did you get started in your business?
I was in the corporate environment, and then suddenly I wasn’t. I’d been tossing the idea around of starting a business as a weekend thing, but when that happened my spouse really pushed me to go for it full force. With his encouragement, and a little seed money from my family, I was able to launch myself into this adventure.
Who’s your biggest fan?
It’s a tie between my spouse and a dear friend of mine.
