Meet the Vendor: Studio MME
Who are you and what do you do?
I’m Megan Eckman, the designer and artist behind Studio MME, a Portland-based studio of magic. Together with my partner, the studio is independently run and constantly pumping out new, creativity-sparking kits. From embroidery to stuffed animal kits, there’s something for everyone who needs to rekindle their imagination.
What’s the latest thing you’ve been working on?
I’ve just released my brand new line of stuffed animal kits. They allow you to embroider, stitch, and stuff your own llama, bird, or whale. It’s my most ambitious project yet as I had to first teach myself how to design and sew a stuffed animal.
What do you love most about craft show vending?
I love hearing feedback from people who come back again and again to buy my kits. Knowing that I have inspired play and creativity is what keeps me in this business.
Is this a full-time business for you?
Yep! As of 2015, Studio MME is my full-time business. I even hired my first contractor this year to do my graphic design work.
What do your customers love most about your product(s)?
My customers love that I only use simple stitches in my embroidery kits. I believe that crafting should be fun not frustrating so I like to design kits that you can stitch up while sipping your favorite beverage. Despite using the easy stitches, my designs are still whimsical and intricate, making them great for beginners and crafting experts alike.
Thanks, Megan! We look forward to seeing you at our summer show.
