Meet the Vendor: Barrow PDX
Who are you and what do you do?
We are two longtime friends and artists from Portland Oregon and we own the porcelain jewelry line Barrow PDX. We are always experimenting in the studio, and like to make a blend of production and one of a kind pieces. We hand form all our porcelain, and no two are exactly alike! Our studio is always a mess of new ideas and half finished projects, and it’s our favorite place to be. www.barrowpdx.com
What’s the latest thing you’ve been working on?
We just made our first hairpiece, for an absolutely delightful bride-to-be here in Portland, and it was so fun to work on that we’re planning to add some hair combs and barrettes to our line in the fall! So far they are all still in sketch-form, but we’re excited!
What is your favorite new product for 2015?
We are both obsessed with our newest pieces, which have deep blue glaze accents, along with our usual white and gold. Our two favorites are the Volta Lapis necklace, which is long but delicate, and the Scarab necklace, which looks like some sort of ancient treasure.
What do you love most about craft show vending?
This is a tough one, there’s so much to love! Getting to talk shop and trade wares with other makers is always a blast, and meeting people in person who have been following supporting our brand is a really wonderful feeling. Also THE FOOD VENDORS. We always leave totally stuffed!
How did you get started in your business?
We started Barrow in our basement, not really thinking of it as a business at all. We’ve been friends forever, and we just wanted to hang out and watch movies and make stuff together. The business just grew really organically.
