Two words that embody the aesthetic of Foamy Wader — nautical minimalism. Combining gemstones and precious metals, Whidbey Island based artist Alexa Allamano handcrafts refined jewelry and home decor embodying the spirit of joy and playfulness felt at the seaside. Finding inspiration in the colors, contours, and textures of the waterfront, each piece carries an understated element of the seashore.
Founded in 2007, Allamano began designing jewelry as a creative outlet from her day job in banking and regulatory compliance. Steadily her hobby became her passion and shortly after opening her shop on Etsy in 2008 she left behind her career in banking in favor of creating art and cultivating Foamy Wader. Just one year later she participated in her very first Urban Craft Uprising!
After spending five years traveling cross-country and internationally selling her jewels at craft fairs and trade shows, Allamano dropped anchor in 2014 and opened her first brick-and-mortar storefront in Seattle. While there the Foamy Wader team grew with the addition of her husband Matthew assisting with assemblage and customer service. Although the duo loved their space in the Ravenna neighborhood, the Foamy team couldn’t resist the call of island life and relocated to Whidbey Island in June 2017. Their new brick-and-mortar storefront is located in picturesque Langley (aka “The Village By the Sea”).
Foamy Wader will be bringing their beautiful collection of shimmering nautical minimalist jewels to Urban Craft Uprising once again this December. Be sure to stop by and check out their brand new hairpins and exclusive Signals Nautical Flag Code Necklaces. Go to foamywader.com for a sneak peek!
