Meet Our Vendor: Texture Clothing
We feel so lucky to have so much support from vendors who become sponsors! Texture Clothing has been a sponsor for several years now and are so happy to be able to support and have the support of this amazing slow fashion business! Supporting these makers is HUGE and we are so lucky to have all of YOU, our fans, who support us all. SO THANK YOU! Ok, let’s get on with this 🙂
Who are you and what do you do?
We are a small clothing company, based in Bellingham, WA. We make good quality clothing for curvy ladies using hemp and organic cotton.
What’s the latest thing you’ve been working on?
We have been screen printing on a small collection of our famous Comfy Skirts!
Any new exciting news you’d like to share with our readers?
Teresa is adding depth by ‘mottle dying’ fabrics, and we are sewing these pieces into our 2 best sellers for the summer: The Knee-length Comfy Skirt and the Mini Comfy Skirt!
What was your first memory of making something?
I hand sewed clothes for my Barbies!
What is your favorite new product for 2018?
A print I designed called the “Milky Way”.
How far will you be traveling to come to UCU?
What do you love most about craft show vending?
Getting to meet the ladies who buy our clothing to get feedback as well as see people try on smile and feel good in the clothes we make!
How did you get started in your business?
I started by selling at Seattle area festivals: Folklife Fest, Bumbershoot, Fremont Street Fest, etc. then moved on to the Bellingham and Ballard Farmers Market.
I had to move back in with my dad and I literally cut out clothes on his garage floor when I started Texture Clothing.
Is this a full-time business for you?
Where do you see your business in 3 years?
I would like to be doing more sales online…still spreading the same message of Love.
Who’s your biggest fan?
my parents : )
What’s something you’ve learned through running your business in the past 12 months?
That, after 18 years of doing this one business, there are still things I don’t know! 😉
What’s your favorite item that you sell?
The Comfy Skirt- because it makes so many ladies happy.
What do your customers love most about your product(s)?
The durability: the fabrics as well as the construction are quality.
What’s the best experience you’ve ever had with one of your customers?
I have had so many customers over the years…but a few come to mind and they are the ones who let their guard down and get real with me. The ones who have a strong connection with what we are doing and the reality of life being not just a bowl of cherries all the time. It’s when we remove the filters and get real with each other…those are the best experiences with customers.
