What is The Buyers Club?
The idea is simple. We know that shop owners are short on time, and inundated with emails from vendors who are hoping to sell thier product. We also know that YOU are short on time, and that it takes a lot of it to do all the work involved in reaching out to new stores — including research, introducing yourself, sending samples and/or line sheets, and following up.
With these boxes, we want to streamline the process for you, by getting your product in the hands of new shop owners all over the country. Our boxes arrive at their shop, and will look like a carefully curated present just for them. We have researched shops that are interested in handmade items, and your products and catalogs will be packaged along with our other high quality vendors, to really catch the attention of the buyer, and to save you both the hard work of making this connection.
In addition to careful and adorable packaging, we will also include a letter about UCU, why we think buying handmade is important and why we have curated this selection specifically for them. There will also be a quick reference sheet about all the businesses represented in the box with their contact information. Additionally, you’ll receive contact information for all the shops who have received a box containing your product, so that you can also easily follow up with them.
How many vendors will be represented?
We will have approximately 25 vendors represented each round. Our boxes will now be more tailored to genre-specific stores based on category than they’ve been in the past (i.e. less “general gift” stores, unless they’ve had a history of establishing accounts with our vendors before), and we’ll be sending your work specifically to stores that we think would be a good fit. We’re excited to hone this side of things a bit more to make this project even MORE successful for you all!
Each box will have all line sheets wrapped in tissue paper with a cute “We want YOU” sticker to keep it all pretty. There will be a nice note from us explaining what we do, who we are and why we picked them. Then there will be samples for them to check out and enjoy. We are only charging $125 to be included in 50 boxes! If you want to select more than one category because you have a more extensive line, you can pay to be included in two distinct categories.
Inclusion in 50 boxes along with the contact info of the shops we targeted.
What if I want to do this but need some guidance about doing wholesale?
No problem! Did you know that we do consultations? Set up a consultation in Seattle with Kristen or in Portland with Lindsey. We will meet you and go through helpful tips about how to get going with wholesale. If you don’t live in either city, that’s no problem either! We are happy to do consultations with you via Facetime, phone or Skype. You’ve got options and we are here for ya!
