Assemble Shop & Studio
Who are you and what do you do?
We are Emily Grosse and Andie Powers, co-owners of Assemble Shop & Studio. We’ve been teaching classes and selling prints, kits, cards, and all sorts of craft-inspired goods for four years now. As of 2013, we moved our shop exclusively online and began selling our own line of crafting kits and stamps.
What’s the latest thing you’ve been working on?
Our Assemble brand kits have been selling for one year now! We’ve learned a lot about the process of manufacturing hand-made products and are currently working on a redesign of the packaging to better reflect the awesome-ness inside each box!
Is this a full-time business for you?
It is! Emily has two small boys at home, and Andie continues her freelance writing and branding on the side, but Assemble remains our full-time priority. In fact, we are constantly working on how to better our business and that adds up to WAY more than 40 hours a week, which we bet most crafters and independent business owners understand!
What’s your favorite item that you sell?
We love our limited edition polar bear stamp – the icon of our shop! The “Mr. Stemke” stamp is a miniature version of the 8ft cut-out by Karl Addison that lived in our shop and has become our favorite mascot.
What do your customers love most about your products?
There is nothing like our kits on the market! We have spent countless hours designing the instructions, photographs, and hand-assembling each piece so that our customers have a great crafting experience. Our bookbinding kits include everything, even the glue!, to create a
hand-made journal. Our granny square kits come with reusable laser-cut spools of yarn. We are very proud of those elements, and details such as those are what our customers really appreciate.
